The SAGA:

A little history on this watch from Rolex themselves:

“The GMT-Master was developed to meet the needs of airline pilots, at the height of the golden age of air travel. It became the official watch of several intercontinental airlines, most notable the famous Pan American World Airways, known as Pan Am.

When Concorde performed its final test flights in the 1960s, Rolex proudly announced that both the British and French test pilots (Brian Trubshaw and André Turcat) wore GMT-Masters. In an era of supersonic flight, the GMT-Master had become invaluable.”

The GMT-Master was introduced in 1955 with the reference 6542. It had a delicate bakelite bezel and a radium-lumed dial. While these attributes aid in making that reference beautiful, they make it difficult to wear, even occasionally. New materials technologies and manufacturing processes gave way to the aluminum bezel and tritium dial of the 1675. When combined, they make it a more robust watch, capable of being worn every day!
