The SAGA: 

Purchased from the family of the original owner, this particular 1680 is a cut above. Of course, I couldn’t help but fit a dome crystal, as I feel it lends itself to the phenomenal character of the dial. As Greg from True Patina puts it, “A dome adds the perfect portion of distortion.”

Apart from the D19 and a recent service, this particular example is original and as found.

Tech Specs:

Year of manufacture: 1978

Serial Number: 5860XXX

Dial: Outstanding Mk 1 dial with warm, sunflower-colored luminous plots. Small dark spots present at 12 and one o’clock. Original hands are a shade darker than the dial. Fitted with a True Dome D19 crystal to show off the dial in its entirety. The original crystal shown on the watch in the gallery, and can be fitted should you prefer it.

Bezel insert: “Hull grey” Mk III bezel insert that is very evenly faded and shows flecks of wear.

Case: original chamfers present in all four corners and displays ultra-sharp lug holes, crown guards, and case back.

Bracelet: Tight and well-preserved 93150 with 11 links

Accessories: Coming up with fun names for the color of the lume. Honeycomb? Butterscotch? Legal pad? All are fitting options.
