The SAGA:

In 2003, Rolex chose to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the submariner with a limited edition of the venerable 16610. They differentiated this from the standard model with a green bezel insert, and a “maxi” dial. Because of this green bezel insert, the watch is more commonly known among collectors as the “Kermit.” I find this to be a missed opportunity, as Yoda is also green and arguably way cooler. Let’s collectively dog-ear that name for another green watch, ok? Ok. Back to the Kermit.

Aficionados posit that the 16610LV has up to eight different dial variations. All under a single limited edition. Production ceased in 2010, so that’s over a dial per year!
